Woman Dies in Crash on Hwy. 2 Written by Adam J. Nyp One woman is dead, three others are in hospital this morning after a single vehicle crash on Highway 2. Just before 3 o'clock this morning, a passer-by driving Highway 2 just west of Woodstock came across a black pick-up truck, upside down in the eastbound lane. Oxford OPP, Zorra Township Fire Department and three Oxford EMS units attended the scene. A female occupant in the vehicle died at the scene of the crash. Three other occupants, all men were dispursed to Woodstock, Ingersoll and London hospitals with varying degrees of injuries. The crash remains under investigation, names have not been released. Rollover claims one teen’s life By Heather Rivers STAFF WRITER Monday January 14, 2008 WOODSTOCK - A Brant County teen is dead, and three Oxford County men are in hospital after a single-vehicle rollover early Saturday morning. Sixteen-year-old Kayla Ludwig, formerly of Woodstock, died at the scene on Highway 2, just outside of Woodstock. Rodney Otto, 24, of RR8 Woodstock, Jeffrey McGuire, 20 of Woodstock and Jeffrey Steele, 24, of RR5 Embro, were transported to three area hospitals. Two of the men were in serious condition, while the third is in critical condition and was later airlifted to London Health Sciences Centre. Ludwig’s mother, Debbie Veenstra, of Woodstock, said her daughter loved the Toronto Maple Leafs and horses. She said her daughter wanted to become a veterinarian. Veenstra said she would miss "everything" about her daughter. "She loved being around her family," she said. Ludwig is survived by her mother Debbie, sister Tara Ludwig, 25, and little sister Samantha Ludwig, 9. Tributes have flooded in for Ludwig at the Facebook website, "In loving memory of Kayla Ludwig," where she is described by her friends as warmhearted, beautiful and funny. "Kayla was the type of girl you could talk to," said friend Lindsey Gray, of Woodstock. "She was a kind, generous and sweet girl. She is missed by a lot of people." Gray said she sends her sympathy to Ludwig’s family. "It’s very painful to lose someone," she said. Police said the group was travelling from the Ingersoll area towards Woodstock prior to 2:50 a.m. Police said the Chevy Avalanche was travelling east on Highway 2, when it hit the soft shoulder and rolled several times before coming to rest upside down in the eastbound lane. According to Oxford OPP Const. Dennis Harwood, a passing motorist spotted the overturned black pick-up truck on the highway near the 43rd Line just before 3 a.m. Road conditions were clear at the time of the crash. Lack of seatbelt use was a contributing factor in the fatality, Harwood said. The Oxford OPP, Zorra Township and Embro fire departments, and three Oxford EMS units attended the scene. The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team has been called in to investigate. OPP investigators would like to speak to anyone who had contact with the group prior to the collision or may have seen the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche prior to the crash. Witnesses Sought in Fatal Crash Written by Adam J. Nyp The investigation continues into Saturday morning's fatal single-vehicle crash on Oxford Road 2, just west of Woodstock. Oxford OPP are now appealing for witnesses to the crash that happened sometime early Saturday morning. 16-year-old Kayla Ludwig of Brantford died when the Chevy Avalanche pick-up truck she was a passenger in flipped on Highway 2. Three other men, Rodney Otto and Jeffery McGuire of Woodstock and Jeffery Steele of Embro were all seriously injured and remain in hospital. The flipped truck was first reported by a motorist at 2:50AM Saturday

You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the softly falling snow.

I am the gentle showers of rain.

I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush.

I am in the graceful rush

of beautiful birds in circling flight.

I am the star shine of the night.

I am in the flowers that bloom,

I am in a quiet room.

I am in the birds that sing,

I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry.

I am not there, I did not die......

ARE YOU THERE ?

Misty breeze wraps about my shoulders, thinly clad.

I shiver not, despite the coolness on my skin.

Comfort, I now feel.

Is it you my precious Angel ?

Are you there ?  I cannot hear your quiet voice,

But bird song fills the air

From high treetops to grassy marsh.

I wonder....is it you, Dear ?  Are you there ?

The roses in my garden bloom large,

And varied in hue from crimsom deep, to barely pink.

I cup the velvet bud, its fragrance soothes a troubled mind.

This must be you, my little girl. Are you there ??

Are you the fiery autumn maples,

Or the star-like flakes of snow ?

Are you the sparkle in the water of the lake that we both loved.

Or perhaps, the warmth I feel in the sand beneath my toes ?

Though your quiet voice I cannot hear,

Nor can I see again your sparkling eyes,

Or feel your dainty hand laid gently on my own,

YOU ARE HERE....

For memory's book will never close-

Each lovely sound, or sight, or scent,

Another page from special times that we have shared.

Oh, YES !!!  You are here child- EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!
